Federal Court Rules for Our Life Insurance Beneficiary Client in Interpleader Case by National Union Insurance Company
Our New York interpleader client was the executor of the estate of the deceased insured, and as such, the designated beneficiary under a National Union Life Insurance Company life insurance policy governed by federal ERISA law.
There were potential competing claimants, prompting National Union to file an interpleader action, depositing the policy benefits into the court registry, and asking the judge to determine who should be paid. The court ultimately ruled in our client’s favor under federal law, awarding our client all benefits under the policy.
